First solo race La Pornichet Select 6.50
8th/30th in proto. Happy but not satisfied.
Disastrous start. I don’t have enough training at all for my maneuvers and I’m in the last ones the first day. Tough times to start. I think a lot to those who follow me on the cartho and see me in the 60th/85th proto and series included! It drives me crazy. I’m not doing all this to be there and it’s certainly not where I’m expected. I have the rage all along.
Then, at night! With the downwind! With the mega remontada
15-20 knots of wind all the way on Lili la bomba, it’s the highway of fun. I don’t let go of the helm for 9 hours in a row, so much so that I get a kick out of overtaking the little red and green lights of the other boats around me, in the night alone. I don’t realize it but I’m 7th at the end of the night (we don’t have our rankings during the race). If it’s possible to have these conditions every race please
The second upwind is ok. I’m playing in the middle, getting passed by those who went left. I really didn’t foresee a wind favoring those on the left. A happy moment when my father and my friends who participate to the Eurocat in Carnac come to see me in a zodiac when I pass near Quiberon. I was having a nap when the crazy catamarans woke me up screaming and accompanied me for a few minutes
I thought I was 6th at the finish before the 2011 spinnaker, kindly lent to me by Jacques Delcroix (thanks again), let me go 25mn before the finish, so that I was overtaken not long before the end. The niac is good but the management of the equipment is also good. To be checked, but I think I am second rookie of the solo race behind Thaïs. Another great moment of happiness when some of my family came to see me at the finish. I was able to show them around Lili, tell them my little anecdotes about the race, my funny moments of solitude and I think they liked it.
Top 10 to be confirmed next week with the Mini in May
